Lymphatic System overview
Lyphodema is when transport of Lymph back to the heart is less than it should be. This fluid is what leaks out of capillaries from the blood to provide nutrition and immune cells to the body. It is usually transported by lymph vessels which have one way valves by muscular contraction. As muscles are used in any activity, the contraction squeezes the lymph vessels which moves the lymph to a series of lymph nodes which all lead back to the heart to rejoin the blood supply
